Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle with us requires:

• To hire a vehicle in Consett, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 might incur additional charges. You need a valid driving licence suited for the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required. Payment details, including a security deposit, must also be provided, along with any other criteria specified in the Rental Agreement.

3. Reservations and Payments

• Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Consett office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.

4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. You are expected to return the vehicle in the same condition it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. If you anticipate a late return, contact us as soon as possible to avoid additional fees. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental, along with an associated administration fee.

5. Coverage and Responsibility

• All rentals come with basic third-party insurance as standard. The Rental Agreement outlines full coverage details and any excess amounts. You may choose to explore additional insurance options to limit your financial liability. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Uses of Your Vehicle

• Vehicles must not be used for illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Vehicles should only be used for their intended purposes and within established passenger and weight limits. Additionally, any travel beyond agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Consett will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence, or for fraudulent actions.

9. Local Legal Framework

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.

10. Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
